------------------------------ ISSA 2017 – Call for Workshop Proposals ------------------------------

 The 16th Information Security for South Africa Conference (ISSA 2017)

Johannesburg, South Africa

August 16-17, 2017

 

Please submit the following:

  • The title, goals, and duration of the workshop (half-day on August 16 or 17 in the afternoon.)

  • Type of workshop, e.g. Technical ‘hands-on’ or reviewed papers

  • The specific topics that will be addressed by the workshop

  • The relevance and significance of this workshop to the main conference

  • The history of the workshop if it is not the first version

 

For Reviewed papers Workshop:

A draft workshop call for papers with:

  • the names, affiliations, email addresses, and short bios of the workshop organizers, who should be experts in the related topics and preferably from multiple institutions;

  • the paper selection process (to determine the possible inclusion in the IEEE endorsed conference proceedings);

  • a list of potential Program Committee members and their affiliations.

  • ISSA 2017 Conference proceedings: All papers accepted for workshops (and moderated by the main conference organisers) will be included in the ISSA 2017 proceedings (published by IEEE). The authors must follow the guidelines as given on the ISSA Website. The selective outstanding papers presented at the workshops, after further revision, may be considered for publication in a special issue accredited journal.

 

Technical ‘hands-on’ Workshop:

A workshop proposal with:

  • the names, affiliations, email addresses, and short bios of the workshop organizers, who should be experts in the related topics and preferably from multiple institutions;

  • the maximum number of participants;

  • technical and hardware equipment supplied by the workshop organisers;

  • technical and hardware equipment required from the venue/conference organisers (it may incur additional costs);

  • any additional requirements from the participants;

Workshop proposals should not exceed four pages and should be submitted to the Workshop Co-Chairs, Mariki Eloff (eloffmm [AT] unisa.ac.za) and Marianne Loock (loockm [AT] unisa.ac.za).

Workshop proposals will be evaluated based on various criteria including the quality and level of details of the proposal, the theme of the workshop, its relevance to the main conference, and the overall balance of the conference workshop program.

 

Important Dates:

  • Workshop proposal submission:                                               15 April 2017

  • Workshop proposal acceptance:                                               30 April 2017

  • All workshop paper submission dates (if applicable):                  Same as ISSA 2017
